Multislip

An atlas of one sector for two or four empires. Everyone plans the year at once; then it is inked.

A fan-made multiplayer experiment built on Slipways by Jakub Wasilewski. All credit for the game goes to him. About this

You get a link to send to friends. Seats you don't fill are played by bots. No accounts.

Seven years into a game between two bots: blue and vermilion territory, inked slipways, resources moving between worlds.

Slipways, and an apology

Multislip stands entirely on Slipways by Jakub Wasilewski (Beetlewing): his game, and his idea of colonies that need each other, joined by slipways that can never cross. I only asked what it would be like if several people played it at once. Every bit of credit belongs to him.

I made this without asking his permission first, and I'm sorry for that. It isn't for profit: no ads, no payments, nothing to buy. I built it because I really wanted to try the idea with my friends. Jakub, if you have any concerns, I'm open to hearing them, and I'll take Multislip down at your first request. Arthur Miko, arthurmiko@gmail.com

How it plays

  • Each empire starts from a home world. You have 12 years to grow a network of colonies.
  • Everyone plans the same year at the same time, then commits. All plans are inked at once.
  • The map is unexplored beyond what your worlds can see. Rivals show only as a vague smudge of their colour until your empire reaches them.
  • Colonise planets near your network and join them with slipways. Slipways can't cross each other or pass through a planet, and have a maximum length.
  • Farms make food and need energy. Mines make ore and need food. Reactors make energy and need ore. Cities need all three. A world with every need met makes double and pays more. Only worlds joined by a slipway trade: a resource never passes through a third world. Each unit supplies one neighbour: by default the oldest colony gets served first, or drag a resource onto the neighbour you want it to go to.
  • Clash: two empires on the same planet, or crossing slipways, in the same year. Both fail, and both pay.
  • Trade: a slipway to an opponent is built only if they order it too. Teammates link freely. Selling to another empire pays you each year.
  • Most points after 12 years wins, team total in 2 vs 2. Cities with every need met are worth the most.

How to

Click a planet near your network to colonise it. A slipway to your nearest world is pencilled in with it.

Click one of your worlds, then another to lay a slipway. To another empire's world it's a trade offer, or a free link to a teammate.

Above a planet: what it needs, outlined until met. Below: what it makes, doubled once every need is met.

Only worlds joined by a slipway trade. Nothing passes through a third world, so place slipways between the worlds that need each other.

Drag a resource icon from under one of your worlds onto a neighbour to send it there. Otherwise resources go automatically, oldest colony first.

Hatched paper is unexplored. Your worlds see a little beyond their slipway range; a smudge of colour in the fog is a rival you haven't reached yet.

Drag the map to pan; wheel or pinch to zoom.
